If I’m going to spill the beans about how this website and everything on it came to be, we need to rewind to the beginning. And here’s the twist—it didn’t start with books or comics!
Hi, I’m Jaime Heathcote, and creativity has been my thing for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved finding new ways to let my imagination run wild. But in the winter of 2021, my creative journey took a bit of a detour—straight into the world of coding. One day, I stumbled upon a coding app for beginners, and, like any curious person who has no idea what they’re getting into, I downloaded it and thought, “Why not?”
I started off navigating through lines of code, tackling small projects and feeling like a hacker in a movie (minus the cool sunglasses). But my curiosity didn’t know when to stop. Before I knew it, I was diving headfirst into something bigger: video game development. Fuelled by the excitement of creating my own pixelated universe, I ended up making my first video game, MOVE IT.
Eventually, I wanted to take my ideas to the next level. What better way than to bring them to life through storytelling? Now, I’d never written a book before, and I had no clue how to actually make one. So, yeah, the result was a bit… messy. But hey, I was only 12! That's how Time Traitor was born. (Don’t worry, it’s been improved since then!)
During the process of writing Time Traitor, I had been gifted a drawing tablet for Christmas. I plugged it into my computer, and suddenly, my imagination had a new playground. That’s when I had a light bulb moment: “Why not make comics?” I could finally draw my stories instead of just writing them! So, I jumped right in, and that’s how Frods Season 1 came around. Of course, I couldn’t resist taking inspiration from my family and sneaking them into the comic series—sorry, not sorry! Back then, this website didn’t exist yet, but things were about to get a lot more interesting.
So, on June 11, 2022, I found myself with a book, a video game, and a comic series all chilling on my computer, just waiting for their big debut. That’s when I had a brilliant idea: why not toss them all together on a website and form Jimbowha Productions? Unfortunately, the video game MOVE IT turned out to be a bit of a dud, so I had to part ways with it. But hey, at least the book and comic got their time in the spotlight!
After that, I went on a creative roll and went into writing a new book, a new comic, and even my first children’s book. I aimed to have them all wrapped up by December since they were Christmas-themed. Yep, you could say I was in the Christmas spirit way back in July—because nothing says “holiday cheer” like planning Christmas projects in the middle of summer!
I forgot to mention that when I was writing Time Traitor, I decided to get into the festive mood and create my very own Christmas advent calendar. Each day featured a new joke, spreading some holiday cheer. Fast forward a year later, and with my four loyal website viewers (hi, Mum!), I thought, “Why not do it again?” This time, I put together a calendar with a new Christmas song for each day. Because who doesn’t love a daily dose of holiday tunes—even if it’s just for my small but merry audience?
From a comic about two planet-protecting guardians to a murder mystery set on the glamorous island of Corsica, I’ve aimed to create content as diverse as possible. Sure, I have a soft spot for adding a dash of science fiction to my projects, but I always try to ground them in reality as much as I can. And let's face it—if you’re a character in one of my stories, your chances of making it through without a dramatic exit are pretty slim!
You're probably wondering where the name Jimbowha came from. Well, fun fact: it’s actually a nickname my dad came up with when I was little! It might sound like a cool character from a fantasy novel, but it’s just a quirky little name my dad came up with. So, if you ever wondered why my brand sounds like it could belong to a legendary hero or a really advanced robot, now you know the real story behind it!
Anyway, fast forward to now, and my projects have evolved in exciting and diverse ways. From those early days of coding and comic-making, I’ve illustrated, written, and, most importantly, learned a lot along the way. And that’s the story of how it all began—showing that with a bit of curiosity and a lot of creativity, you can turn a simple idea into something amazing. Who would have guessed that a kid with a Christmas joke calendar would be on this wild ride? My story isn’t over yet, so stay tuned—there’s plenty more to come, and hopefully, a few more laughs along the way!
