Okay, so for a few months now I've been getting into the chaotic, fast-scrolling world of continuous content posting on TikTok (Yes, it’s as intense as it sounds and no, I haven’t blinked since last Tuesday.) In this blog, I'd like to share why I have this new habit, what I've learned doing this and an explanation on what on earth I'm actually posting!
Around the start of March, I logged back in to my old Film/TV TikTok account, SJTikTok (now Jimbowha Cinema). For some strange reason I suddenly felt the urge to post quick, easy content that I enjoyed making. Stuff that wasn’t all about Jimbowha Productions. I wanted to get back into the thrill of editing. And, of course, experience the unmatched dopamine rush of watching my follower count rise like cake in an oven — if the cake had anxiety and checked its phone every 4 minutes.
Why am I posting so much? First of all — and I’m being completely honest here — I want to grow Jimbowha Productions into an unstoppable empire, with different types of entertaining content taking over every part of the internet. Secondly, I’m working on building a huge audience to create momentum for when I release my new comic, ERROR 410: DIGITAL COLLAPSE (prepare yourselves — it's going to blow you away). And finally, I want to create something fun and meaningful — something my family can be proud of... — even if half of them still think TikTok is just a fancy clock app. ("Wow, he’s really doing great with that time management!")
What have I learned? The TikTok algorithm is basically like a wife in a sitcom — one day it loves you, the next day it’s giving you the silent treatment for reasons you’ll never fully understand. This is something I have learnt by looking at my analytics to try and find the best time for me to upload. Another thing I’ve learned? Videos can randomly blow up weeks after you post them. I uploaded an edit ages ago, forgot it existed, and then out of nowhere it decided to go full-on celebrity mode. Oh, and one more thing: trending sounds are basically cheat codes. If you’re not using them, it’s like showing up to a sword fight with a pool noodle.
What do I post on Jimbowha Cinema? Well, it’s all in the name. Jimbowha, because yep, that’s me — the mastermind, the movie geek, the guy posting at 1 in the morning — and Cinema, because I’m not posting about my own projects here.
No behind-the-scenes of my comic. No mysterious trailers for my next big thing. Just pure, unfiltered pop culture chaos. We're talking Marvel, DC, sci-fi, fantasy, that one emotionally damaging Netflix show everyone’s crying about. Make sure you don't miss out!
